About us

Wildlife Welfare Organisation (WWO) was founded in 1984 and implemented a constitution in 1987. This makes WWO one of the oldest wildlife care groups in South Australia. The organisation was setup to assist with the ever growing number of sick and injured wildlife found on the Fleurieu Peninsula, mostly caused through direct and indirect human interactions such as line entanglement, car strikes and domestic animal attacks. Wildlife Welfare cares for over 800 wild animals every year and answers over 1500 phone calls on our 24/7 rescue hotline. WWO cares for all animals including marsupials, reptiles, native birds and specialises in marine and seabirds. The small team at WWO are trained to rescue, care for and rehabilitate sick or injured animals with funding raised solely from donations, fundraising events and through our op shop based in Goolwa. The team compromises of a single staff member and is generously assisted by over 20 different volunteers, donating their time to save wildlife. WWO also offers free education and advice to people who may be unsure on what actions to take when discovering sick or injured wildlife.
